Here’s why Impact Digital is the green digital printer:
Environmentally accredited
Our ISO (ISO14001: Environmental Management Standard, ISO 9001: Quality Management Standard, AS/NZS 4801: Health and Safety Management Safety Standard) and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) accreditations are a testimony to our ongoing commitment to our environment. Impact Digital reduces energy consumption by utilising solar energy, rain water, energy efficient lighting and free cooling.
Community leader
Impact Digital has been selected as a community leader in combating climate change within the Zero Carbon Moreland program, in which residents and businesses within the Moreland City Council commit to reducing their carbon footprint to a zero net by 2030.
Solar energy and solar hot water
Our 50 kWp of solar power panels generate enough energy to power 4.07 domestic house holds per day – a saving of 28.83 tonnes of green house gases per year, which is equivalent to taking six cars off the road per year. Impact Digital only uses hot water powered by the sun.
Free cooling
We keep our premises cool through our free air cooling system which uses an ambient and return air thermostat to control the operation of return, fresh and spill air dampers. When conditions permit, the refrigerated cooling is locked out and cool fresh air is drawn into the building to satisfy cooling demands. To put this simply, based on Melbourne’s weather we can cool our press room for 90 days per year without using any air-conditioning.
Rain water tanks
We have installed rainwater tanks that hold a total of 6,000 litres of rain water to run our 8 on-site toilets. Saving 72,000 litres per year. This equates to over two domestic swimming pools filled with water.
Energy efficient lighting
We use an energy efficient lighting system. Our T5 fluorescent lights are the most energy efficient florescent light globes on the market. They typically use 40% less electricity than standard T8 tubes, while outputting a 10–15% higher level of lighting.
Waterless presses
Printing has historically been a leading industrial consumer of water. Our digital presses are waterless – a saving of 12,019 litres of water per year. Not only do we save water, but we also reduce toxic waste – digital printing does not employ many of the harsh, volatile chemicals found in traditional offset printing – yet another benefit of choosing Impact Digital printing.
FSC paper supplier
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. The FSC label provides a credible link between responsible production and consumption, enabling consumers and businesses to make purchasing decisions that benefit people and the environment as well as providing ongoing business value. If your job requires FSC accreditation, talk to Impact Digital about your next job and our range of environmental stocks to choose from.
